A Dream within a Dream by Edgar Allan Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!

And in parting from you now,

Thus much let me avow--

You are not wrong, who deem;

That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away

In a night, or in a day,

In a vision, or in none,

Is it therefore the less gone?

All that we see or seem

Is but a dream within a dream

I stand amid the roar

Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

Grains of the golden sand--

How few! yet how they creep

Through my fingers to the deep,

While I weep--while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! can I not save

One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that we see or seem

But a dream within a dream?

I read this poem at my mother's funeral service. Poe was one of her favoured writers, and this is my favourite poems of his.

I am a Wood Tiger

Chinese Astrology

Tigers are strong but very emotional and sensitive. They can get stubborn over things that they believe to be right or true.
They are lovable, alluring, warm-hearted, honourable, hard-working, pleasant, independant, engaging, dynamic and idealist sweetie pies.
They are aslo rash, hot-headed, reckless, infatuarted, quarrelsome, caustic, moody, predatory, rebellious, disobedient and irreverent rascals.
The wood tiger is more adaptable to working with others and therefore does not demonstrate the typical 'take charge' attitude of other Tigers. The Wood element adds stability, giving them warmth pf character that draws people in and make the Tiger a popular person. They are not selfish creatures and will give their time, attention or possessions to anyone in need.
